Bug bite that is painful?

I woke up last night with my shoulder hurting that I was sleeping on and when I felt it, it definatly felt swollen so I went and looked at it and I had several bites on my shoulder and it was swollen badly and red. I've been taking bendryl and using calamine lotion also putting ice on it and the swelling has not gone down. Instead my whole arm where the bites are on my shoulder is numb and is tingly. If I try to lay on the shoulder I get a bad pain. Any idea what kind of bug bite or how to get rid of it?
